FAQ

Thank you for your interest in Candyman Ent. Here are some frequently asked questions about our music entertainment services. If you require any additional information, please don’t hesitate to ask and it would be our pleasure to assist you further.

Q. Once I decide I like a band when is the best time to book it?
A. It’s always best to book the band as soon as possible. Frequently, our performers are booked months to a year in advance and are secured by deposit on a first come first serve basis.

Q. Can I hear samples of the Band?
A. Yes. We’ll send you a CE Artist Preview ℠ featuring performers we feel will be perfect for your event.

Q. What time does the band arrive to set up?
A. The band will set up well in advance and be ready to perform at the designated start time.

Q. How many songs does the band play and do they take breaks?
A. Typically, a band can play 30-40 songs during a three-hour period. Unless you’ve contracted for continuous music, the band will take three 15 minute breaks at select times during the event.

Q. What’s continuous music?
A. Continuous music guarantees that there will always be at least three musicians playing at all times. There is an additional charge for this option.

Q. Can the band bring CD’s or Mp3s to play during their set breaks?
A. Yes. The band can bring recorded music similar to their live repertoire to play and you are always welcome to provide them with your own recorded music. Also, in our experience we’ve found that it works best to schedule toasts, accolades and speeches during band breaks.

Q. What if I need to change the performance time that’s on my contract?
A. Please tell us immediately so that we can coordinate with the performers to avoid any possible scheduling conflicts. Performance times can be adjusted as long as they are confirmed at least 2 weeks prior to your event.

Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. Yes we do. We also accept checks.

Q. What if I want the band to perform overtime?
A. Per your contract, the cost per half hour for overtime will be indicated. If you decide that you want the band to play beyond their contracted time, please let our music coordinator know at the event. We’ll need you to sign an overtime authorization sheet and we’ll send you an invoice after the event. There is no need to pay us on the day of your event for overtime..

Q. Is it appropriate to tip the band?
A. Tips are not expected but certainly appreciated.

Q. Can I give the band the final payment the day of my event?
A. No. Our bands do not handle payments. Your contract will indicate when final payments are due.

Q. What if the band doesn’t show up?
A. This has not happened once in all of our years of business! We take great pride in our reputation as we only work with professionals.

Q. What happens if one of the performers is sick or unable to perform?
A. We will provide another performer of equal or better talent.

Q. Does the bandleader MC as well?
A. Yes. Either the bandleader or the lead vocalist will MC your event.

Q. What will the band wear to my event?
A. This is your option. It can be Black tie formal (tuxedos & black dresses etc…), Black suits and ties, all Black, or something less formal (casual, etc…).

Q. What are the band’s power requirements?
Most of our bands require two 20-amp dedicated circuits.

Q. How much room does the band need?
A. This varies depending on the size of your band, but typically, the minimum stage size is 8’x16’ for smaller band configurations and may be as large as 12’x24’ for larger bands.

Q. Do I need to provide meals for the band?
A. This will be indicated on your contract. Most sites offer ‘vendor meals’ which are much less expensive than what you would have for your guests.

Q. Does the band provide lighting or umbrellas?
A. No. Most venues & hotels provide adequate lighting and umbrellas if necessary for the musicians (especially if they will perform outdoors). Additionally, we ask that you please provide heaters for the band in cooler weather; if your guests are cold, more than likely your band is also.

Q. What instruments make up a string trio or string quartet?
A. String trio: violin, viola and cello.
String quartet: 2 violins, viola and cello.

Q. What if I want the band to perform a song that’s not on their set list?
A. If you have any special requests, please let us know several weeks prior to your event.

Q. Will we have a chance to speak with our band prior to the event?
A. Usually not. We act as the liaison between our musicians and our clients as many of our musicians maintain demanding performance schedules. We are in constant communication with them regarding your event.
